DENVER - A person was shot in the leg by accident when an off-duty FBI agent’s gun got dislodged and fell to the floor while he was doing a backflip at a night club downtown.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to Mile High Spirits at 2201 Lawrence Street on a report of a shooting.

Responding officers said it appears an off-duty FBI agent was dancing when his firearm became dislodged from its waistband holster and fell to the ground.

When the agent went to pick it back up, an unintended shot went off and hit a man at the bar in the leg, according to Denver Police.

The victim was taken to the hospital with what Denver Police are calling a good prognosis.

The FBI agent was questioned at Denver Police Headquarters before being released to an FBI supervisor.

Denver Police’s homicide unit is handling the investigation, and charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
