Ocala family hopes kindness from drivers result in kidney donor for son

A mom along with her two daughters are trying to find a kidney donor for her son.

Sometimes you run across someone panhandling for money, maybe even looking for work.

But this is something you wouldn't expect and it's starting to go viral. A mom along with her two daughters are trying to find a kidney donor for her son.

A mom along with her two daughters are trying to find a kidney donor for her son.

The Ocala Star-Banner shared how Jill Brannen and her girls have been holding up signs on a central Florida street corner hoping someone will see them and offer to help.

Her 19-year-old son Nico has Alport syndrome which painfully damages the blood vessels in the kidneys and can lead to kidney disease or even kidney failure.

The disease is hereditary, so Nico has been dealing with the health issues since he was a young boy.

The family says at this point, both of his kidneys are 90 percent scar tissue and he has to have dialysis on a daily basis.

He needs a donor whose blood type is either a or o.

They've been getting some calls since holding the signs over the weekend, but so far they don't have a donor lined up.

They also hope that even if you're not a match for Nico, that maybe you'll consider donating to someone else.
