SEBRING, Fla. -- A 24-year-old jet dragster racer from Sarasota was killed in a crash at Sebring International Raceway, according to the raceway.

Katarina Moller was doing an exhibition run in a jet dragster. It was her first run in the car at Sebring's regular drag racing event.

According to her Facebook page, she was signed to Larsen Motorsports and was in her fifth season. Her biography on the team's website said she made her racing debut in 2014 and had been interested in racing since age 11.

“We knew Kat well and were big fans of her personality and her driving skill,” said Wayne Estes, president and general manager of Sebring International Raceway. “Sebring International Raceway and the entire racing community are heartbroken.”

In what appears to be her last post on Twitter, she said she was "excited" to be heading to the raceway.

She also posted a brief video on Facebook hours before she was killed.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, and investigators are asking any spectators who recorded Moller’s run to call the Criminal Investigation Unit at 863-402-7250.
