Staff member, 3 students among 6 arrested after fight at Chamberlain High School

Tampa police said Jynessa Brown, a 40-year-old school employee, let two adults into the school before they got into a fight with students.

TAMPA, Fla. — Six people, including three students and a staff member, were arrested Thursday morning after a fight broke out at Chamberlain High School.

The school resource officer and additional Tampa police officers responded at 8:39 a.m. to a fight in the school's main hallway.

"Alongside school security, officers were able to quickly resolve the dispute," the Tampa Police Department said in a statement. No one was seriously hurt.

Police say two adults, 18-year-old Jordan Ford and 19-year-old Stanley Louissaint, who are not affiliated with the school, were involved in the fight with three Chamberlain High students. The students are 14, 15 and 16-year-old boys.

All five of them were taken into custody and face multiple charges.

Investigators say the fight likely started as an off-campus dispute. According to police, 40-year-old Jynessa Brown, a bus rider attendant hired in 2020, let Ford and Louissaint into the school.

"At the time of the incident, she was off-duty, but dressed in full uniform," police said.

Brown was arrested at her home and charged with one felony count of child abuse, one misdemeanor count of disrupting school campus or function, and one misdemeanor count of trespassing on school grounds.

Ford and Louissaint's charges also include felony counts of child abuse.

In a statement, Hillsborough County Public Schools said Brown has been suspended pending termination.

“We are extremely disappointed that one of our employees would use her position to violate the safety and security of our students and staff.

"She has now been suspended pending termination.”
