Sheriff: Suspect fled scene of 2 collisions before deadly crash

Officials say the man was traveling at a high speed when he ran a red light, causing the crash.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A man is charged with vehicular homicide after a deadly crash at the intersection of Waters Ave. and Himes Ave.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), Jenri Fuentes Rodriguez was leaving a nightclub around 6 a.m. Sunday when he collided with an occupied vehicle.

Rodriguez then fled the scene and pulled into a McDonald's parking lot where he hit another vehicle and, again, continued driving.

He continued down Waters Ave. at a high rate of speed and ran a red light, colliding with another vehicle and causing his and the victim's car to flip multiple times. The victim's vehicle then collided with a wooden utility poll.

When deputies arrived on scene the victim, 59-year-old Ann Marie Rutkowski, was deceased.

Rodriguez was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. When he was discharged, he was taken to the Orient Road Jail.

He is charged with vehicular homicide and officials say he may face additional charges.
