Roads back open in Bradenton after gas leak, authorities say

14th Street W. from 26th Avenue W to 30th Avenue W. were temporarily closed in both directions due to the leak.

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — The evacuation order for a gas leak in the area of 14th Street W. from 26th Avenue W to 30th Avenue W. in Bradenton has been lifted, according to an update from Deputy Chief Eric Center.

A 911 call about the leak came in a little after 8 a.m. Saturday, Center said. Eight agencies including the hazmat team from Southern Manatee Fire Rescue and TECO responded to the area.

Center says several residents and businesses in the area were evacuated, but have now been given the green light to return.

"Evacuation order has been lifted and it is safe to go back to the residences and businesses," Center said.

TECO will remain on the scene to continue with their repairs.
