PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A water quality advisory has been issued for three beaches in Pasco County after water sample testing found "fecal pollution."
The Department of Health in Pasco County said advisories were issued for Robert J. Strickland Beach, Brasher Park Beach and Gulf Harbors Beach. The advisory is based on the presence of enterococci (intestinal bacteria) in the water samples.
The department said it monitors beach water samples for the bacteria, which can cause human disease, infections or rashes. The presence of this bacteria is an indication of "fecal pollution," which can come from storm water runoff, pets, wildlife and human sewage.
The department said the next water sampling date is set for July 22.
