CLEARWATER, Fla. — A St. Petersburg woman is accused of stealing more than $200,000 from the place she worked, Clearwater police said in a release.

Detectives with Clearwater Police's economic crimes division say 43-year-old Jessica Benedict was arrested Friday morning and is being charged with grand theft.

Benedict was reportedly the property manager of the Regatta Beach Club condos located on Mandalay Avenue in Clearwater. During her time working at the beach club, she allegedly used the beach club's credit card to make personal purchases totaling $79,282.

Additionally, Benedict allegedly diverted checks that were for the beach club to her own personal bank account. The check amounts reportedly totaled $196,903.

In total, Clearwater detectives said Benedict stole a total of $216,185 from the Regatta Beach Club.

Detectives say their investigation is ongoing.
