ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A Pinellas County school bus has crashed into a tractor-trailer.
It happened around 6:36 a.m. Thursday on westbound Ulmerton Road at 58th Street North in Pinellas County.
Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Gaskins the school bus crashed into the rear of the stopped semi-truck.
Four high school students suffered minor injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The children were taken to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Pinellas County Schools spokesperson Lisa Wolf said there were other three students on the bus who weren't injured. They had been riding to Seminole High School and Pinellas Technical High School at Seminole.
The FHP said the bus rear-ended the tractor-trailer stopped at a red light.
The bus driver, Bernand Lee Gant ,67, of St. Petersburg is charged with careless driving. He resigned from the district Thursday afternoon.
Gant had been with the school district since 1994.
According to the school district, Gant has had 10 preventable minor accidents since then. A disciplinary history is below.

Court records show Gant was cited for reckless driving in February 2014 and September 2015.
“Pinellas County Schools expects safe transportation for our students every day and we hold our drivers to high standards," a Pinellas County Schools spokesperson said. "The district follows progressive discipline. Each of Mr. Gant’s previous accidents were minor and spanned several years.”
