Postcard Inn looking to expand amid some neighbors concerns

A community meeting will be held tonight to discuss the proposal.

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — Postcard Inn is looking for a stamp of approval to expand and upgrade the resort.

In just hours a critical debate will take place over the future of a popular resort in St. Pete Beach. The proposed expansion of the Postcard Inn has stirred a wave of controversy.

The Postcard Inn is looking for community support for a proposed expansion of the 196-room resort.

This comes just weeks after both the Tradewinds Resort and the Sirata Resort had the same discussion.

The expansion that aims to modernize facilities and improve guest experience has been met with both applause and apprehension.

Supporters argue it’s a necessary step for economic growth while critics fear the impact it will have on St. Pete beaches unique character and charm.

Some community members are eager for the job opportunities and modern amenities the resort will offer, while detractors are worried that increased traffic and more commercialization could erode the charm that defines St. Pete Beach.

Postcard Inn has been a staple in the Tampa Bay area for decades. Initially constructed in 1957, the resort features a lobby café, more than 200 feet of frontage along the Gulf of Mexico and a full-service restaurant.

The hotel was sold in 2022 in a multi-million dollar deal and was renovated after to modernize it.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the inn. Neighbors are encouraged to attend and weigh in on the proposed expansion.
