ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man visiting his wife at an assisted living facility Tuesday morning fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Police say an employee at Addington Place, located at 4600 54th Ave. S., was conducting their routine check-in when they found 76-year-old Susan Dowler and 81-year-old Thomas Dowler shot.
Officials learned the elder Dowler went to the facility to see his wife before shooting her.
An investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing, police said.
