Troopers: Sarasota crash leaves pedestrian dead

SARASOTA, Fla. — A man died after being hit by two cars on a road in Sarasota on Saturday night. 

The 40-year-old pedestrian was attempting to walk across Clark Road in front of approaching traffic when a car hit him in the area of the intersection with Swift Road just before 9 p.m., according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said after the first car hit him, another car hit him. He was pronounced dead on scene. 

The westbound lanes on Clark Road were closed but have been reopened.

Law enforcement is investigating the crash.
