Stolen Valor: Pasco man pretends to be vet to get jobs

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who pretended to be a veteran of a U.S. Army in order to get a job.

23-year-old Stephen Lang was applying for jobs at various stores in Pasco this summer. In order to gain sympathy from one prospective employer at Tranquility Pools, Lang said he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a holder of a Purple Heart. He even showed an employee his Purple Heart tag that he fraudulently obtained from the Florida DHSMV.

Lang also printed a DD-214 military discharge document to the owner of Bella Pools in order to better his chances of getting a job.

After being arrested on June 26, Lang admitted that he printed the DD-214 document off the internet.

Lang was released on $5,000 bail from the Land O'Lakes Detention Center.
