Suspect caught in stabbing of Lakeland woman

A 36-year-old suspect using an assumed name has been caught in Marion County in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Sunday.
Theron Brown, 36, was apprehended about 2:45 p.m. Friday in Marion County by agents with the U.S. Marshal’s Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to Lakeland police.

Lakeland, Florida -- A 36-year-old suspect using an assumed name has been caught in Marion County in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Sunday.

Theron Brown, 36, was apprehended about 2:45 p.m. Friday in Marion County by agents with the U.S. Marshal's Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to Lakeland police.

The agents and Lakeland detectives found that Theron had assumed a different identity and was hiding in Ocala. Lakeland detectives are traveling to Marion County to complete their investigation.

The victim was stabbed 22 times in her vehicle at 1234 Jewel Ave. around 11 p.m. Sunday night, but she was able to drive to the Chevron gas station in 1615 W. Memorial Blvd. for safety.

An employee called 911, and she was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center for surgery. Police say she had stab wounds to her head, chest, back and arms.

The victim identified her attacker before going to the hospital.
