Veteran celebrates his 100th birthday at Hooters

He was joined by a group of 50 people, many of them family and friends who traveled across the country to attend the celebration.

FAIRFAX, Va. — A veteran celebrated their century of life in a very special way on Saturday -- with a birthday party at Hooters.

Glenn Ward, a World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veteran, was celebrated at the Fairfax Hooters for his 100th birthday. He was joined by a group of 50 people, many of them traveled across the country to attend the celebration.

The centenarian received a signed Hooters hat, a token to honor his many years of service, a ceremony from the Honor Guard, and a birthday serenade from the Hooters Girls.

In 1941, when Ward was 17, his military career began. The day after Christmas he dropped out of college to enlist in the Navy following the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as a radioman during World War II, a pilot during the Korean War, and as an air officer conducting combat operations in the Vietnam War.

He retired in 1974, after 30 years of service, following 4,300 flight hours and hundreds of combat missions.

Ward has celebrated his birthday at Hooters for over a decade and plans to continue this tradition every year to come.
