TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Floridians would once again enjoy sales tax holidays this year for back-to-school and hurricane supplies under legislation sent to Gov. Ron DeSantis by lawmakers.
The holidays are part of a $121 million tax cut bill that passed the House 81-25 and the Senate 23-17 on Friday night.
The House measure creates a sales tax holiday from May 31 to June 6 for hurricane supplies under certain cost thresholds such as batteries, generators, weather radios and fuel cans.
The school sales tax holiday would be from Aug. 2 to Aug. 6 for items including clothes, school supplies, backpacks and shoes, again under certain cost limits.
The bill provides several tax breaks to help with Hurricane Michael recovery, such as building materials, replacement fencing, hurricane debris removal and agriculture-related tangible personal property.
