DAVIE, Fla. — A U.S. military veteran was killed in what investigators believe was a road rage shootout in Broward County, Fla.
According to CBS Miami, Keith Byrne, 41, was driving to his mom's house in Davie when he accidentally cut off a man in a BMW.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the retired Marine Corps lance corporal was ready to apologize at the next light, but he never got the chance. Before he could, the newspaper says a passenger, 22-year-old Andre Sinclar, got out of his girlfriend's BMW and shot Byrne once in the chest.
Fatally wounded, the Sun-Sentinel says Byrne used his own gun to shoot back several times. Both men ultimately died.
The newspaper says Sinclair's toddler was in the back seat of the BMW.
Both men had concealed carry permits.
