'The coolest storybook wedding ever': Couple travels over 500 miles to get married during solar eclipse

Carlotta Cox and Bubba Holloway traveled from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Russellville, Arkansas, to say, "I Do!"

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Hundreds of couples tied the knot in a special wedding ceremony during the Great American Solar Eclipse on Monday.

The Total Eclipse of the Heart wedding ceremony offered couples across the U.S. a chance to get married for "totally free" in Russellville, Arkansas, where the sun, the moon, and the Earth aligned for the eclipse.

Carlotta Cox and Bubba Holloway traveled over 500 miles from Knoxville, Tennessee, to take part in the festivities.

"We have been trying to plan for our solar eclipse trip for three years," Cox said. "We weren’t planning on getting married this soon, but this opportunity came up."

Cox met Holloway about five and a half years ago when working for USPS. She said they are thrilled to be saying "I Do" during the eclipse.

"To be part of the coolest storybook wedding ever and having the total solar eclipse mark the beginning of a new journey for us," Cox said.

NBC's "The Voice" Season 7 winner and country singer Craig Wayne Boyd helped officiate the nuptials.

Cox and Holloway were dressed up for the occasion in their celestial attire featuring the stars and moon, of course! They also had a solar eclipse-themed cake.

For their next adventure, Cox and Holloway said they plan to travel to Egypt to watch the next total solar eclipse in 2027.
