Florida Southern players celebrate after defeating Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks in the Division II national championship college basketball game at Ford Center. The Southern Moccasins won 77-62.

A stomach bug and Indiana University of Pennsylvania couldn't stop Florida Southern from winning the National Championship. The Moccasins never trailed, starting off the game on fire hitting the first seven 3-pointers attempted.

"Unbelievable feeling, we have a great group of guys who have had an unbelievable season," head coach Linc Darner told CBS Sports.

Leading scorer Kevin Capers struggled to keep food down leading up to Saturday afternoon's title game. But the senior out of Winter Haven, who was battling illness nearly knocked all of his shots down in the 77-62 victory.

Capers in foul trouble, didn't play for most of the first half. Yet he was electric from the floor, hitting on six of his first 6 shots from the field, including 5 three pointers. The barrage of three pointers allowed the Moccasins to take a 37-28 lead into halftime.

Florida Southern picked up right where they left off in the second half, tying a NCAA Title game record with 13 three-pointers.

"To finish it this way, I am speechless right now," said Darner. "I am proud of our guys for all the hard work they deserve it for all the hard work they did this year."

It's the Moccasins first Division II NCAA Championship since the 1981 season. Florida Southern finished off the season 36-1.
