Dropkick Murphys perform outside window of house-ridden 3-year-old battling cancer

When chemotherapy wiped Quinn Waters' immunity, his only connection to the outside world was through his window.

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The Dropkick Murphys shipped up to Boston for a very special show.

It was a one-of-a-kind venue for the Celtic punk band: the lawn outside 3-year-old Quinn Waters’ bedroom window.

In February, Quinn was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor called Medulloblaastoma. After initial rounds of chemotherapy in preparation for a stem cell transplant, the Massachusetts native’s natural immunity was wiped out. As a precaution his parents, Jarlath and Tara, have resorted to their own version of the bubble boy. As a common cold could land Quinn back in the hospital, they’re not allowing him to go outside or let anyone inside.

Being confined inside would cause anyone to grow restless, especially a toddler. That’s why Quinn has taken to his bedroom window, deemed his “Quinn-dow,” to connect to the outside world.

What started off as waves from those passing by transformed into family members paying him visits outside his window. Then neighbors began stopping by. Then local law enforcement. Soon, Quinn had an array of Massachusetts’s finest coming window-side to see him.

“His window has become his lifeline to the world,” Quinn’s website said.

When members of the beloved band Dropkick Murphys caught wind of Quinn’s story they decided to pay the little fighter a visit.

Bandmembers Tim Brenan and Ken Casey transformed the Waters’ front lawn into an impromptu stage. Their set included ‘I’m Shipping Up To Boston’ with a singing cameo from a puppet shark to Quinn’s delight.

Dropkick Murphys later posted about Quinn and his wonderful family.

“They are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the band said.

Quinn has received other messages of support including a video from Patriots’ Tom Brady and Stephon Gilmore.
