TAMPA, Fla. — After millions of gallons of wastewater spilled into a sinkhole at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay last year, the theme park is dealing with another wastewater issue.

At around 10 a.m. Wednesday, about 3,000 to 5,000 gallons of industrial wastewater spilled onto a construction site at Busch Gardens, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced in a pollution notice.

Officials say contractors working at the site cut into a pipe and as a result, the wastewater was dumped onto a part of the theme park.

The incident was reportedly resolved at 12:30 p.m.

Back in November, millions of gallons of wastewater spilled into a sinkhole that opened up at the park, according to state environmental regulators.

At the time, Busch Gardens' environmental manager reported an estimated 2.5 million gallons of wastewater discharged into the 15-by-15 sinkhole adjacent to wastewater treatment ponds sometime during the early morning hours of Nov. 18.

10 Tampa Bay has reached out to Busch Gardens for a statement regarding the incident but has not yet heard back.
