Beginning April 8, Tampa International Airport is getting additional flights to Austin, Texas courtesy of Frontier Airlines.
The Denver-based, low-cost carrier announced the Tampa to Austin flight Thursday along with new service on 35 nonstop routes.
TIA already provides service to Austin on Southwest Airlines but Frontier has been expanding aggressively in Tampa and elsewhere. Southwest currently serves the Tampa to Austin routes with one to two flights a day depending on the season, said Kenneth Strickland, TIA’s director of research and air service development.
