'We Gonna Learn Today' inspires local students to learn about Black history though art

By creating Black History workbooks for his grandkids, Matthew Hale was inspired to help other kids learn.

TAMPA, Fla. — "We Gonna Learn Today," founded by retired Marine and disabled veteran Matthew D. Hale, is on a mission to revolutionize American education.

The initiative, launched in 2020, has evolved into the Black Historical Figures workbook series, aimed at supplementing traditional Black history curricula in Tampa area schools.

Hale's multimedia approach combines animated videos, music and games to create an immersive learning experience. The goal is simple: motivate individuals to explore Black history and advocate for its inclusion in schools.

Hale emphasizes the importance of embracing uncomfortable truths for personal growth, stating, "In order to grow, you must visit uncomfortable places."

Supporters can engage with the initiative on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Additional information and resources can be found on WeGonnaLearnToday.com and EveryDollarCountz.com.

"We Gonna Learn Today" asserts that Black history is American history, and by supporting the initiative, individuals contribute to reshaping how history is taught in schools.

The call to action is clear: embrace discomfort, learn, and grow together. Through collective support, the initiative aims to make a lasting impact on education, fostering a more inclusive understanding of the American narrative.
