Hillsborough County woman charged after allegedly leaving 4-month-old baby in car

While an exact amount of time is still unclear, deputies say the child may have been left in the vehicle for up to 6 hours.

RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A Hillsborough County woman was arrested after leaving a four-month-old baby inside a car with the engine off, according to deputies.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Aisha Morrow left the baby in the vehicle at around 2:48 p.m. Tuesday at the Spectrum location at 4145 South Falkenburg Road in Riverview.

Through their investigation, deputies discovered Morrow had childcare issues. She told deputies she picked up the baby during her lunch break and left the child inside the car.

Authorities are still figuring out the exact amount of time the baby was left in the car, but they say it could have been up to six hours.

"This woman's actions are reprehensible, and this situation could have ended tragically; I am thankful that the witnesses alerted our deputies, resulting in the baby being rescued," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. "Our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community remains steadfast, and we will continue to pursue justice for those who endanger the welfare of children."

The child was taken to Tampa General Hospital and reportedly did not suffer any injuries.

Before this investigation, deputies learned Morrow was arrested in 2023 by the Tampa Police Department and charged with one count of child neglect and one count of aggravated assault with deadly weapon.

The sheriff's office says Morrow is facing one charge of child neglect.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
