HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. β A large brush fire raging Saturday night near a Hillsborough County state park has since been extinguished, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriffβs Office Facebook post.
Video from a Hillsborough County Sheriffβs Office aerial unit Saturday night shows the orange flames of a brush fire near the Alafia River State Park in southeast Hillsborough County.
As the unit moved closer, raging flames became more apparent. Thanks to about 4,300 gallons of water, those flames were swiftly extinguished, the agency said.
According to the Florida Forest Service, a Lakeland field unit also responded to the 1,500-acre fire, which is now 99% contained as of early Sunday afternoon.
