Missing Tampa man found safe

TAMPA, Fla. — Update:  Romanda Ladarrius Mathis has returned home safely, Tampa police said in a Thursday afternoon update.

Previous story: Police in Tampa are searching for a missing man who they said could be having suicidal thoughts.

Romanda Ladarrius Mathis, 55, was last seen at 2:19 a.m. Thursday near the 2200 block of East Chelsea Street. It's an area along North 22nd Street in the Belmont Heights neighborhood near Ferrell Girls Preparatory Academy and Middleton High School.

Officials said he should be traveling on foot.

According to a news release from the Tampa Police Department, Mathis "is believed to have suicidal ideations and could be in need of care."

Mathis is 6 feet tall and about 275 pounds. He was wearing all-black clothing and had prescription glasses on.
