ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — A resident of Zephyrhills, a Proud Boy and porn actor, pleaded guilty to assaulting officers during the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Steven Miles, 40, now awaits sentencing and most likely faces a prison sentence.

Miles attended the Jan. 6 rally where Trump and his allies urged supporters to march to the Capitol and stop Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 election. He left, however, before any of the speeches began. According to court records, Miles instead met up with other Proud Boys and played a leading role in attacking officers and breaking into the Capitol building.

Court records said Miles wore camouflage gear and a red "Make America Great Again" cap. He pushed his way past restricted area barriers, shoved one officer aside and tried to punch another one. He then grabbed a wooden plank and smashed a window of the Capitol which he and other rioters used to illegally enter the building.

Prosecutors with the U.S. State Attorney's Office said Miles made other efforts to physically obstruct and interfere with law enforcement's efforts to hold back the rioters. Miles was arrested in April 2022. He will be sentenced in February 2024.

More than 950 people have been charged for their role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Florida leads the nation in the number of arrests related to the attack by far: 91 rioters, compared to 77 in Texas and 73 in Pennsylvania, earning the state the nickname: "the cradle of the insurrection."
