NORTH PORT, Fla. — A suspected teenage drunk driver is to blame for a deadly crash over the weekend, North Port police say.
But she isn't the only one charged. Police said 22-year-old Damien Chanfrante supplied alcohol to several minors the night of the crash.
Chanfrante faces eight counts of supplying alcohol to minors.
The fatal crash happened around 2:29 a.m. Saturday in a remote part of the city. Police said the driver couldn't properly take a curve on Joewood Circle and crashed, causing the SUV to roll over.
A 17-year-old girl was thrown from the vehicle and died.
A 13-year-old girl, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old male were also hurt. The 17-year-old killed and some of the others injured are students at North Port High School.
The driver, Stephanie Evrard, 19, was charged with DUI manslaughter and three counts of DUI with personal injury.
