GULFPORT, Fla. — A food service worker at Gulfport Family Restaurant might have been infectious with hepatitis A earlier this month.
The Florida Department of Health said the employee at the restaurant, located at 2025 49th St., could have exposed people between June 4-11.
A man who identified himself as the restaurant's manager and asked not to be named said it was a waiter who had fallen sick. The person went to the doctor and later told management of their illness.
That person no longer works at the restaurant, the manager said.
People who ate food from Gulfport Family Restaurant and have not been vaccinated are being advised to get a shot of the first dose of the hepatitis A immunization. A second dose is necessary six months later.
Those who already have been vaccinated are not at risk.
Vaccines are offered at no cost and without appointment from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the following locations:
- St. Petersburg: 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N
- Pinellas Park: 6350 76th Ave. N
- Mid-County (Largo): 8751 Ulmerton Rd
- Clearwater: 310 N. Myrtle Ave
