TAMPA, Fla. — The holidays are a time to spread cheer and celebrate with loved ones. But with stressful travel plans, last-minute shopping and snowbirds on the road, it's not always easy to stay "merry and bright" behind the wheel.

GasBuddy studied millions of drives during 2022’s Thanksgiving holiday weekend to rank "The Top 10 Cities with The Most Aggressive Holiday Drivers."

With three cities on the naughty list, Florida was named "the most aggressive driving state overall." Jacksonville and Orlando took the second and fourth spots, respectively. Tampa-St. Petersburg came in at No. 8.

It's not clear what's going on in Tuscon, Ariz., but the city claimed the No. 1 spot for the most aggressive drivers for the second year in a row.

If you're looking to get away from the aggressive drivers in the Sunshine State, GasBuddy also ranked "The Top 10 Cities with The Least Aggressive Holiday Drivers." Zero Florida cities made that list.

GasBuddy looked at habits like quick acceleration, hard braking and speeding from its mobile app to calculate its rankings.

“The holidays can bring out both the best and worst of us, trying to run around to get everything done and prepared before the holidays, coupled with high prices and increased traffic, we see shorter fuses on the road and more stress contribute to wasting money,” Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said in a news release.

“In addition to the safety element, driving aggressively and rushing around bites into consumer wallets by reducing fuel efficiency. As 2022 has brought some of the highest gas prices ever seen, taking a deep breath and slowing down while driving can improve drivers’ gas mileage up to 25%, meaning safe drivers will have extra savings on hand to spend during the holiday season.”
