ST. PETERSBURG, Fla — Some like it hot, but maybe not this hot.
Temperatures are forecast to bust out of the low 90s and into the mid to even upper 90s later this week for parts of Tampa Bay and Central Florida into Memorial Day weekend.
10Weather: More heat on the way Sunday
Even if some recent 90-degree weather felt bad, a few more degrees -- and don't forget the humidity -- will make it feel a tad more miserable. As if there's any good news in this forecast, dew point values appear so far to remain in the 60s, meaning while it'll feel humid, it could be worse.
All this heat is associated with a ridge of high pressure most weather computer models have been advertising for a few days now.
This upcoming stretch of hot weather is likely to become a heat wave, lasting for several days, with the potential of breaking some May monthly record highs.
Florida won't be the only hot spot: Parts of the Southeast from the Gulf states to the Carolinas likely will get in on some of the heat, too.
Like it or not, the unofficial start of summer is to arrive on time.
