HCSO: Man arrested in connection to shooting death of Tampa mother

Deputies say Keonte Henley turned himself into the sheriff's office on Tuesday.

TAMPA, Fla. — Deputies have arrested a man they say is connected to the shooting death of a Tampa mother of three back in February.

Keonte Henley turned himself into the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, March 14, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release. He is accused of shooting and killing Tonika Turner on Feb. 21.

"Now that this suspect is in custody, this case can go through the judicial system," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "We hope this is another step in the healing process for the victim's family."

Henley was booked into the Orient Road Jail and is facing charges of felon in possession of a firearm and manslaughter with a weapon.

Turner was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in the early hours of Feb. 21. Her sisters say she was house-sitting for a family.

Turner was one of 10 siblings, the center of the family, and their everything, family members said. She was also known as "Lady Cash," a passionate rapper and singer who touched many in the East Tampa community.

"If we're the peanut butter, she's the jelly. Or we're the pancakes and she's a syrup. We just go hand and hand. It really does. You can't have one without the other. She's vibrant, vivacious, loving," said Queen Herriott, one of Turner's sisters.
