BRADENTON, Fla. — Deputies sent to a Rooms To Go store in response to an SUV that had crashed into the building found several bullet holes on the vehicle.
Patrol units were sent around 3:16 a.m. Saturday to the store on Cortez Road West and found an SUV crashed into the store's front pillar, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Rescuers started life-saving efforts on 30-year-old Jerome Miller, but he later died at an area hospital.
Bullet holes were found on the driver's side of the SUV. Investigators are trying to figure out when and where the shots were fired.
The sheriff's office is calling Miller's death a homicide.
Anyone with information is asked to call 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for any valuable information that leads to a conviction.
