PHOENIX — A 20-year-old man who is in the country illegally is accused of impregnating an 11-year-old girl, police in Phoenix said.

Carlos Jacinto Cobo-Perez faces felony charges of aggravated assault and sexual conduct with a minor, according to CBS affiliate KPHO

The investigation began in November 2018, when the victim was found with a "hickey" on her neck.

Police said the girl told her mom she was "in a relationship" with Cobo-Perez. The girl allegedly told police Cobo-Perez had "kissed her on the lips on multiple occasions" and had given her a hickey on her neck, KPHO reports.

According to the CBS station, Police said Cobo-Perez admitted to kissing the girl multiple times and giving her the hickey. They said he told them he knew "their relationship was wrong" and agreed to have no further contact with the victim.

But on May 17, the girl took a pregnancy test, and it was positive, according to KPHO.

Police said the girl told them Cobo-Perez was the father, according to KPHO. They also said he admitted to having sex with the girl and that "he does not care if he goes to jail," according to the police report.

Police reportedly said he is in the country illegally.
